WiRE Lunch October 22: Energy Affordability and Resilience

As Hawaiʻi residents face some of the nation’s highest energy costs, WiRE invites you to learn more about how energy efficiency has become essential for both household affordability and community resilience. This panel discussion will explore how programs across the islands are helping families save on utility bills, strengthen comfort and health, and reduce dependence on imported fuels—all while advancing Hawaiʻi’s 100% clean energy goals.

Panelists will share insights into how their programs are working together to make upgrades accessible to all households—particularly low- and moderate-income families. Discussion topics will include equitable program design, strategies for engaging under-resourced communities, and how efficiency investments can serve as a foundation for economic stability, community resilience, and long-term sustainability.

Panelists:

Forest Frizzell – Co-Founder and CEO, Shifted Energy

Josh Stanbro – Chief Administrator of Kalāhiki, Hawaiian Council

Jayla Thomas – Energy Efficiency Rebates Specialist, Hawai'i State Energy Office
