In June 2024, the State of Hawaii signed a historic settlement with thirteen youth plaintiffs from across Hawaii to resolve the Navahine v. Hawai'i Department of Transportation constitutional climate case. It's a first of its kind settlement that commits the state to working with a youth council to implement plans and programs to decarbonize the state transportation system.
